The Baylor Bears have found their next head coach. As reported by Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports, Temple head coach Matt Rhule has accepted the head coaching job at Baylor. The school announced the hire on Tuesday morning. He replaces interim coach Jim Grobe after a very tumultuous season in Waco.
Rhule was the head coach at Temple for four seasons and comes to Waco off of one of the best runs in school history, winning 20 games in the last two years and an AAC title with a 34-10 over Navy last Saturday.
Rhule will head to Waco trying to rebuild a recruiting class that has whittled down to just one commit for the 2017 season. The program is also reeling after a sexual assault scandal that cost head coach Art Briles, AD Ian McCaw, and school president Ken Starr their jobs.
Baylor finished the regular season losing their last six games to fall to 6-6 after a 6-0 start. The Bears face Boise State in the Cactus Bowl on December 27 in Phoenix.
Rhule will be introduced as the new head coach on Wednesday at a press conference, according to the school.
