Coburn chose Texas over Alabama, Arkansas, TCU, Texas A&M and LSU among several others. He is currently ranked as the top-ranked defensive line prospect in the state as well as a Top 15 overall prospect in Texas.
The senior becomes Commit No. 16 in the Class of 2018 for the Longhorns and the class continues to show the potential of a truly special class. Even though Tom Herman has yet to officially coach a game for the Longhorns, he and his staff now have a recruiting class that now features seven of the Top 13 recruits in Texas per the 247 Sports Composite Rankings.
At 6-1 and nearly 330 pounds, the senior defensive tackle is an imposing force on the line of scrimmage for the Mustangs. Using his size, strength and motor, he should be able to maintain that high level of play up front after earning first team all-district honors a season ago.
The Mustangs open their season at home against Houston Lamar on September 1.
