Wright chose Texas A&M over offers from Texas, TCU, Texas Tech, Ohio State and LSU among others. He had long been considered a Texas A&M lean, but per Burnt Orange Nation, Texas was making a charge for the top 10 recruit in the state.
Wright put up some impressive numbers in 2016, finishing with 70 tackles, 18 tackles for loss and nine sacks which earned him a second-team AP Class 6A all-state selection.
As for O’Neal, the Cy Springs star had over 30 offers and chose Texas A&M over Alabama, Ohio State, Arizona State, Baylor and Michigan among others. Like Wright, O’Neal also had a standout junior season, finishing with 86 tackles, 4 pass breakups, 2 forced fumbles, 2 interceptions, and a fumble recovery. Those numbers earned him a second team all-district selection.
With the announcement coming late Friday, it’s safe to say that head coach Kevin Sumlin is happy with his two latest Houston area commits.

Texas A&M moves all the way up to the No. 13 recruiting class in the country, up 17 spots from where they were previously ranked according to the 247 Composite Rankings. The Aggies also continue to stockpile nearby as seven of the nine commits in the class hail from the greater Houston area.
