A projected starter on the offensive side of the ball may be out for an extended period of time. Per Brian Davis of the Austin American-Statesman, senior tight end Andrew Beck has suffered a foot fracture during practice on Wednesday.

This is not the first time that Beck has had to deal with this kind of injury. The senior missed an extended period of time during the spring. It’s unclear whether this injury is the same one from that time.
The injury leaves Tom Herman and the Longhorns in a difficult spot, considering the kind of role that the former Houston coach has in mind for his offense and for depth.
Incoming freshman Reese Leitao is suspended for the first two games after pleading guilty to misdemeanor drug possession during the summer. Junior Garrett Gray, graduate transfer Kendall Moore from Syracuse and former Lake Travis standout Cade Brewer will all likely vie for playing time at the position.
Per Davis, Herman is expected to address the situation on Thursday.
