Texas Tech will be taking its spring game on the road this year. The Red Raider spring game will be played at Ford Center at The Star on April 1. The move was officially announced on Thursday.
Ford Center is located at the Dallas Cowboys practice facility, The Star, in Frisco which opened in 2016 and holds 12,000 seats.
At a press conference at The Star on Thursday, Texas Tech athletic director Kirby Hocutt said, “This area (The Metroplex) is a home away from home for Texas Tech University. It’s great to be here and we are so fortunate to have the continued partnership that we share with the Dallas Cowboys.”
The Red Raiders have a strong alumni presence in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and also have their annual game with Baylor at AT&T Stadium.
The game will kick off at 3 p.m. on April 1 and will be broadcasted on Fox Sports Southwest, per Hocutt.
