On November 24, 2006 60,000 people packed the old Cowboys Stadium for the UIL Playoff game between two powerhouses of Texas High School football word. South Lake Carroll, led by quarterback Riley Dodge came into the thick of the playoffs against their rival Euless Trinity.
The game was destined to be one of the all-time greatest to ever be played in Texas High School playoff history. What ended up happening was a game that lived up to all of the expectations that were set for this epic contest.
Today on the podcast, Riley joined me to give an oral history of that epic game 10 years ago. And, about the pressures a quarterback like Westlake’s Sam Ehlinger faces with the weight of an entire town puts on someone. Also, we touched on Charlie Strong and what’s going on at the University of Texas’ program. And, I throw out the idea of putting an actor in, like Kyle Chandler or Matthew McConaughey, as the new head coach if Coach Strong is let go.
