2017 was Tre King’s first year at Tech after transferring from Hutchinson Community College in Kansas. King took a bus for 22 hours to arrive on campus…the bus ticket still hangs in his locker.
King turned into one of Texas Tech’s top rushing options despite joining the team just prior to preseason practices. King played in all 13 games while starting in five of them. He finished the season second on the team with 623 rushing yards, averaging 4.8 yards per carry and five touchdowns. King carried the ball 131 times on the year, one shy of Justin Stockton for the team high. He also caught 17 passes out of the backfield for 104 yards. something tells us that last season was King just getting warmed up!
