Tyrone Green Takes Helm as Sharks’ New Head Coach

Round Rock Hail Roof Inspection

Tyrone Green has been named the new Head Coach for the Alvin Shadow Creek Sharks football team, succeeding Brad Butler. Butler led the Sharks to a 9-2 season last year and an 11-1 season in 2022. Butler also led the Sharks to their only state title, in 2019, a 28-22 5A Division 1 victory over Denton Ryan.

Originally from Mississippi, Green, who is 43 years old, played at the University of Houston from 2000-2003. After his college playing days, he got right into Texas high school football coaching, first with Houston Lamar. He is heading into his 22nd year as a football coach.

Green now has deep roots in Pearland and has been with the Shadow Creek program since their inception in 2016. He waited for the right head coaching opportunity and now has the perfect opportunity to lead a program that he has been an integral part of over the past 8 years.

On a personal note, I think this is a tremendous hire. Over the past couple of years, anytime an opening came up in the Houston area, I anticipated Green being a possible hire. He is highly respected by his players and his community, and though he has huge shoes to fill, I would be surprised if the Sharks don’t win 10+ games next season. He was not just the right man for the job – he was the only man for this job. Good luck, Coach!
