A former Tyler John Tyler standout officially has his place in the pros. Former Houston linebacker Tyus Bowser was selected with the 47th overall pick in the second round by the Baltimore Ravens on Friday night in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
Bowser missed about half of his senior season at Houston due to an injury but he is a difference maker on the field when healthy, finishing with 137 tackles and 22.5 sacks throughout his time with the Cougars.
Bowser is projected as a defensive end or a 3-4 outside linebacker at the next level and will have his chance to shine with the Ravens. He is the first of three former CUJO stars who went from the NFL Combine in March to the NFL Draft. His high school teammate, Mississippi State wide receiver Fred Ross, is projected as a late round pick while quarterback turned wide receiver Greg Ward Jr. is making the transition to receiver as he hopes to get picked up in the later rounds as well.
