Denton Guyer vs. Allen
Our Game of the Week will definitely be a good one as Denton Guyer and their tough running game head to face a powerful Allen team with a more than solid defense. This one is going to be an absolute slugfest, and Denton Guyer has a real chance to hand Allen a rare regular-season loss.
Waco La Vega vs. China Spring
China Spring has been incredible this year, blowing out everyone in their path. Archrival Waco La Vega has as well, and that’s set up a district matchup of Titanic proportions in 4A. Both squads annihilated their good opponents last week, China Spring destroyed previously undefeated Burnet and La Vega handled a very good Liberty Hill team. The winner of this game is likely your district title winner.
Grapevine vs. Richland
This 5A matchup of quiet unbeatens is sure to produce some fireworks. Neither team has faced a true challenge yet this season, so it’ll be good to see how they react to facing another unbeaten team. Richland has the ability to score points in bunches, and Grapevine has a more than solid defense. It’ll be a heck of a game, possibly the most underrated on this list.
Cedar Park vs. Georgetown
Despite Georgetown’s big loss to Leander Rouse last week, I still see this as a very close game. Cedar Park has been excellent on the defensive side of the ball, but they’ll have their hands full stopping a Georgetown team with a lot of offensive firepower and a lot to prove.
Lubbock Monterey vs. Lubbock Coronado
Monterey took a loss last week to Abilene Cooper, but that doesn’t dim the shine of this game. This week starts a three-week slate that’s filled with either one loss or undefeated teams in the Lubbock area. This race for the district title is going to be a great one, and it starts tomorrow with Lubbock Monterey and Lubbock Coronado.
