Franklin, the number one team in 3A Division I, had been on a 39-game winning run, but Lorena went blow for blow with the Lions last Friday. On the final play of the game, Leopard kicker James Webb nailed a 34-yard field goal to give Lorena a huge 52-49 victory.
Lorena’s offense proved tough to slow down all night. Running back Braylon Henry rushed for 255 yards and five touchdowns on 33 carries. Quarterback Kaden Roberts added another 249 yards and two touchdowns through the air. The majority of his completions were split between senior Collin Hill, four catches for 82 yards, and junior Brock Kuhl, six catches for 88 yards.
BRAYLON HENRY: UNSTOPPABLE. 🔒🔥
Massive BAM Builders touchdown for the Leopards, and this offense is looking DOMINANT. 😮💨
Obviously, the end of Franklin’s winning streak is what will grab headlines, but the victory for Lorena also secured the Leopards the district title as they now own tiebreaking wins over both Franklin and Little River Academy.
Lorena will wrap up its regular season at home against Troy this Friday. And considering the Leopards won the 3A Division I state championship just back in 2021, they will be a team to watch as the postseason begins.
