Six-Man Team of the Week: Harrold Hornets
Before last season, Harrold hadn’t won a game since October 31, 2014. It was a rocky road that included a four season stretch from 2017-2020 where the Hornets didn’t field a football team due to a lack of numbers.
But with it’s 40-game losing streak in its rear view mirror, the Hornets have been soaring under the leadership of new head coach Shad Walker.
This past Friday, the Hornets 45’d Trent at halftime in a 51-6 victory to improve to 3-0 on the season. Harrold’s lone senior Kasen Ramsey led the way with 157 rushing yards and five touchdowns along with a passing touchdown.
Freshman Keylan Marks had a nice night throwing the football completing three of his four passes for 80 yards and a touchdown. Sophomore David Albineda was Harrold’s top receiver with three catches for 84-yards.
After taking over the program this offseason, Walker said all credit has to go to his players with Harrold off to its best start since 2010.
“They have answered to everything we have asked from them,” Walker said. “These kids are on a mission to prove a point each and every day and our senior leader Kasen Ramsey is doing a phenomenal job leading us in the right direction.. They are excelling in the classroom and on the field. The Harrold Hornets and Lady Hornets are back and on a mission”
Harrold will look to match the 4-0 start it had in 2010 this Saturday when the Hornets take on Darrouzett in a neutral-site game in Claude at 1:00.
