Bonner had recently decommitted from Northwestern and chose the Cardinal over other offers from UTSA, Iowa State, Tulsa, Louisiana Tech and several Ivy League schools.
The senior defensive back had a big year for the Highlanders in 2016, earning a first-team all-district selection and serving as a major focal point in the secondary in the run to the state championship last season for The Woodlands.
Bonner also became the first prospect from Texas to commit to the Cardinal until Tuesday when Fort Bend Kempner linebacker Jacob Magnum-Farrar announced his commitment to Stanford on Tuesday. The Cardinal now have seven commitments in the Class of 2018.

Bonner will be an important player for the Highlanders as they try to reload after losing several key starters to graduation. The Woodlands opens their 2017 season at home against Cy-Fair on September 1.
