On Monday, Woodsboro ISD named Xavier Rangel as the next head coach of the Eagles. Rangel takes over for Wade Miller, who left to take the head job at Tuloso-Midway.

Rangel comes to Woodsboro from Plainview, where he was the defensive coordinator. He returns to the head coaching ranks after previous stops at Leakey and Rocksprings and has a 21-32 overall record as a head coach.
Miller finished with a 33-25 overall record at Woodsboro and Rangel is now tasked with taking over a program that has made five straight playoff appearances and eight in the last nine years. The Eagles finished 3-8 in 2016.
