The Woodsboro Eagles have become a consistent presence in the playoffs over the last few years and have now found their new coach to take the reins. On Monday, Woodsboro ISD named Xavier Rangel as the next head coach of the Eagles. Rangel takes over for Wade Miller, who left to take the head job at Tuloso-Midway.

Rangel comes to Woodsboro from Plainview, where he was the defensive coordinator. He returns to the head coaching ranks after previous stops at Leakey and Rocksprings and has a 21-32 overall record as a head coach.

Miller finished with a 33-25 overall record at Woodsboro and Rangel is now tasked with taking over a program that has made five straight playoff appearances and eight in the last nine years. The Eagles finished 3-8 in 2016.
