The 2017 Texas High School Football Recruiting Class is no stranger to talented defensive backs, but with the noticeable talent in the position, Chevin Calloway of Bishop Dunne High School at times may be overlooked.

However, with the skill set that this 5’10 defensive playmaker has, the likes of Arkansas and Texas are keen to lock down his signature on National Signing Day. After decommitting from the University of Iowa earlier in the season, the likes of Bret Bielema and newly appointed Texas head coach Tom Herman are now in the race to add this starlet to the recruiting class.

It is no surprise that these two coaches have had this senior on official visits only a week apart, hoping they can sway his decision in their favor. These coaches, like many others, have seen what special things he can do in many different coverage schemes on the defense. Bump and run, man to man coverage, and even in the zone, Calloway excels and often provides a game-changing play as Bishop Dunne has become accustomed too. What is often overlooked as well, is the ability that Calloway has to cover taller receivers. His speed and vertical jump provides this corner a unique arsenal that will translate to the college game with ease.

With Arkansas looking to be the front runner, whatever the case may be, Calloway is sure to be one of the more underrated pickups of this recruiting class.
