We’ve hit July. August is a month away. With August comes football season. And with football season becomes one of the most-hyped high school football games in years as Cedar Hill faces off against Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, NV) in Week 1.
Last week, Cedar Hill was ranked No. 5 in the nation by MaxPreps. Bishop Gorman was No. 3. On Saturday, Aug. 27 (8 p.m.) the two teams will combine to send 21 players out to the field who are in the Class of 2017 or 2018 and have three-star rankings or higher according to 247 Sports’ composite rankings. That includes a pair of four-star quarterbacks in Gorman’s Tate Martell (Ohio State pledge) and Cedar Hill’s Avery Davis (Notre Dame pledge).
The hype for the game started almost as soon as the matchup was agreed to at the end of last year. The trash talk has lasted for months. In the spring, Cedar Hill coach Joey McGuire talked about dealing with all the hype.
