FORT WORTH — Former Southlake Carroll High School dual-threat quarterback Kenny Hill received more than a No. 10 Associated Press national ranking after topping Oklahoma State 44-31 Saturday in Stillwater.

Tuesday, per information from Texas Christian University, Hill was named a Davey O’Brien Award winner as the nation’s best quarterback in week four. He directed the Horned Frogs to nearly 500 yards of total offense.

Not only did he guide TCU to a key victory against former No. 6 Oklahoma State, he helped an explosive offense earn 32 first downs, control the clock for more than 39 minutes and go 11-of-19 on third-down conversions. The senior from Southlake completed 22-of-33 passes for 228 yards and a touchdown and added 15 yards rushing to a balanced attack that saw the Horned Frogs gain 238 total yards on the ground.

Hill’s 72.6 completion percentage is on pace to shatter a TCU single-season record set by Casey Pachall (66.5) in 2011. He has thrown for nine touchdowns and is 19th in the nation in passing efficiency with a 162.2 rating. He has also helped the Horned Frogs reach No. 1 in third-down conversions (63.2 percent) in national statistics this season.

The award is named for O’Brien, who won the Heisman Trophy for TCU during the Horned Frogs’ 1938 national championship season. Former TCU quarterback and current Seattle Seahawk Trevone Boykin was a two-time finalist (2014, 2015) of the weekly honor.
