Man, what a fun offense.
It’s always incredible to watch a good unit do their thing, and that’s what the Dallas offense did tonight. Everything just clicked tonight. The zone blocking and Zeke’s cuts off it, Dak making excellent reads and delivering strikes, the trick plays and everything that came from them, they were outstanding. It’s an offense that can do everything well, an offense that can handle going one dimensional.
However, if Tyron Smith is really injured, Dallas might be in postseason trouble.
Smith is up there with Zack Martin for best Dallas offensive linemen. His health will be very crucial if Dallas is going to make a deep playoff run. Before his injury he was dominant.
The counterpunch from this entire team tonight is a good sign of things to come.
Dallas was down in this one in the first half. The Lions were moving the ball at will with Zach Zenner and Matt Stafford. The offense wasn’t clicking at all. No one seemed to be on the same page.
At some point, it just all clicked. The offense was moving the ball, the defense was stopping the Lions. Yes, the Cowboys were aided by some very questionable calls. Yes, the Lions are not a perfect team. However, that response is exactly what a championship caliber team does.
This version of the Cowboys aren’t easy to rattle. You can’t keep them out for an entire game. Even in their losses to the Giants, they were always in the game, never completely out. It’s one of the biggest tells of a great team, you can’t blow them out.
Let’s hope this pass rush stays for the rest of the playoffs.
The Cowboys absolutely hounded Matt Stafford today, especially in the second half. David Irving got involved. Randy Gregory’s return held some fruit. Even Sean Lee, who makes his bread over the middle, reacting, got in on the action. No one really knows how excellent that Detroit offensive line is, so let’s all hope that the ‘Boys can keep applying pressure.
A beatdown of this Lions team doesn’t mean that the Cowboys are Super Bowl bound.
Let’s face this fact right now: the Lions aren’t the best team in the NFL, and it’s not groundbreakingly huge to beat them by 21 points at home.
It’s a good win, but it’s ultimately one that was more or less expected, regardless of how many points. Let’s save the hyperbole.
