Patrick Mahomes is gone for the NFL, and one of his potential successors might not make it back to school. Former Mansfield Lake Ridge quarterback Jett Duffey has been suspended from school until the fall, according to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.

Texas Tech still has capable quarterbacks in JUCO transfer McLane Carter and Nic Shimonek, but losing Duffey will still hurt. He’s inarguably the most talented out of those vying to fill the vacant cleats of Mahomes.
Regardless, Duffey was suspended from the school, not the team, and no Texas Tech spokesman could give any reason for his suspension at this time.
