San Antonio All-Stars Show Out In Exhibition

After the conclusion of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, The Alamodome played host to yet another All-Star game, this time with the best from the Alamo City Area.

The 2017 San Antonio Sports All Star Football Game is a showcase of some of the area’s best talent. Partnered with the Army All-American Game, like the aforementioned, selects 100 players, dividing them into teams of East and West due to their geographical location.

The game featured many highly recruited athletes across all levels and class divisions. With 36 participates having signed NLI of intents in last year’s installment, 15 of which were at the Division I level, this year promised to featured more with the likes of Minnesota commit Joshua Croslen, New Mexico commit Bryson Carroll, and Penn State commit Johnathan Gessner on the field of play.

The highly anticipated matchup started in a flash with a big return from Cibolo Steele’s C.J. Williams opened the contest. After a short run by William’s teammate Travell Lumpkin, East QB Josh Adkins of Smithson Valley found the Steele all-time reception leader Williams for the game’s first touchdown. It was a big day for the Steele receiver as before the game, he officially announced that he would be attending the Naval Academy in fall to continue his playing career, adding to the host of Steele Knights taking their talents to the college ranks.

The East dominated the half and closed it with a Lumpkin 4-yard TD run to go into the half winning 29-0.

As the 2nd half started, the West answered early with a touchdown catch from Jonathan Tapia to take the score to 29-7. Tapia, the UTSA Baseball commit, found the endzone once again, barely getting both feet in to cut the lead to 29-14.

The half opened up scoring with flurries including: field goals from Turner Davidson, a magnificent two-point conversion reception from lineman DoRion Dreighton after a Dillon Ricord QB keeper, and to add to the interception return for touchdown in the first half from Jack Gibbens,

The East won with a final score of 43-29. QB Josh Adkins of Smithson Valley was named Impact Player of the Game.
