Beaumont West Brook went 11-2 in their 2016 campaign, only falling to The Woodlands and Spring Westfield. Head Coach Kevin Flanigan was placed on administrative leave after it was found that he installed a camera in the West Brook locker room during a police investigation into a theft in the locker room. Flanigan was later cleared of any wrongdoing by a Grand Jury, and left West Brook to become the new head coach at Tomball.
In order to keep West Brook’s train rolling, they’ve named defensive coordinator Eric Peevey the new head coach. Peevey was named the interim head coach whole Flanigan was on administration leave.
There’s always something to be said for continuity in coaching changes. There will be change with a new man in charge, but maintaining a system that the players have been using for years is always of great benefit. In-house head coaching hires have been a theme in this episode of the high school football coaching carousel, and they’re often very successful.
