An expected starter on the offensive line for the Baylor Bears has decided to step away from football altogether. According to Colt Barber of SicEm365.com, offensive lineman Tanner Thrift is retiring from football after suffering a knee injury during spring practice. The initial report was confirmed by a school official earlier Tuesday afternoon.

Thrift is a senior from Hutto and had moved from guard to center during the spring and was the expected starter at the position as spring football ended. He played in 31 career games for Baylor, including three starts.
The offensive line was already a thin position for the Bears and with Thrift gone, Matt Rhule will have to turn elsewhere to find the depth he needs up front. The Bears signed six offensive linemen in their 2017 recruiting class.
