TexasHSFootball.com Staff Picks: Who Comes Out On Top In District 4-6A?

This district is a tough one to pick from simply because of how wide open it is.

Mansfield is the defending district champ, but they lose several key starters due to graduation. Arlington Bowie, Martin and Arlington High all finished 5-2 in district and Lamar has quite a bit of talent as well coming back. Make no mistake about it, it should be just as competitive in 2017.

For me, it came down to two teams: Arlington Bowie and Mansfield and I’m sticking with the Mansfield to defend their title again. Quarterback Shawn Hartsfield should be in line for a big senior year and with Baylor commit Jackson Gleeson to throw the ball to, the Tigers should be a fun team to watch.

The two teams play in early November and a lot should be on the line when that game comes around.

Prediction: Mansfield

Cody Daniel

In district 4-6A, all roads will still lead to Mansfield in 2017.

Following a 10-win season in which Mansfield ripped through its conference schedule with a perfect 7-0 mark, the Tigers lose plenty of talent, but return plenty, as well.

Arlington Bowie less the majority of its key contributors and while a variety of programs look to be on the up-and-up, such as Arlington Lamar, Mansfield just seems to be in its own tier once again. Despite losing playmakers in running back Kennedy Brooks and two-way presence Paulson Saiid Adebo, Mansfield will still have more than its share of explosive options to rely upon, such as wide receivers Miles Williams and Jackson Gleeson, to name a few.

Mansfield has its eyes on a potential state title run next season and along the way should be yet another district title.

Prediction: Mansfield

Hunter Cooke

They only won six games last year, but Arlington Martin is going to take home the title this year.

Kennedy Brooks of Mansfield has graduated, Arlington Bowie has lost a few members from a deep playoff run, and Martin returns key contributors like Juma Otoviano and Brayden Willis.

There are no easy roads to a district title, especially not in DFW, where nearly every other team is a playoff caliber team. 4-6A is no exception, it’s a tough road, but I think Martin has what it takes to come out on top.

Prediction: Arlington Martin
