4-star Hebron WR Trejan Bridges Still Playing With Something To Prove

Life of the gridiron is relatively easy for Hebron wide receiver Trejan Bridges. At least that’s the way it seemed last weekend at the Texas 7on7 Championships in College Station, where the Division I bound talent gave defensive backs all they could handle and then some.

“I just go out there and do my thing to prove myself and all the stuff that I’ve gained,” Bridges told TexasHSFootball.com. “Any person that lines up against me, it’s just a one-on-one battle for me.”

Along with entering virtually every one-on-one matchup with the upper hand from a sheet talent standpoint, Bridges enjoys a luxury that makes his job much easier — a future Power 5 passer in the backfield in Clayton Tune.

A three-star Kansas commit, Tune orchestrated Hebron’s offense last season to the tune of nearly 2,500 yards and 22 touchdowns. Nearly one-third of Tune’s 170 completions found their way into the hands of Bridges, who racked up 766 yards and nine touchdowns as a sophomore.

“Clayton’s a great quarterback,” Bridges said. “He trusts me in every situation. If I feel like I can win the battle then I just go over and tell him and he’ll just throw it up to me and makes it easy for me.”

With or without Tune, it likely would have been easy for the four-star 2019 pass-catcher, who found success all tournament long courtesy of an exceptional display of route running, body control and the ability to locate and secure the ball at it’s highest point; often in traffic. To that end, Bridges said he was aware the target on his back as a coveted recruit.

“People already know that I’m a highly recruited play so they’re going to come at me with all they’ve got so I’ve got to come out here and prove myself,” Bridges said.

To date, the 6’1, 174-pound prospect has a variety of high-level schools coming at him, as well. Bridges currently holds 19 offers — a number that should increase significantly throughout his next two seasons — and said Oregon, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Arkansas, Baylor and Texas Tech are in contact the most. The Bears and Red Raiders are currently the only two in-state school in pursuit of Bridges’ services, but in addition to 17 other schools, Baylor and Texas Tech are tasked with recruiting against Bridges’ desire for a change of scenery.

“Right now I’m probably looking to get out of state.”

Bridges is ranked as the nation’s No. 229 player, No. 37 wide receiver and the No. 29 player in Texas, per 247Sports Composite.
