The Horned Frogs have long been known for their defensive prowess under head coach Gary Patterson, and their newest commit fits right in his 4-2-5 scheme. Taye Barber of Cypress Springs will head to Fort Worth upon his graduation.

Barber’s highlight reel from his junior year shows him in lots of spots, but the most interesting parts of his game come from when he rolls into press coverage. It’s very easy to see why TCU recruited him, he’s a great fit for their safety spots. The one handed interceptions are incredibly flashy, but his coverage skills show more than flash.
TCU struggled a tad last season. Losing close games is going to happen, but the Horned Frogs lost two overtime bouts with Arkansas and Texas Tech, and were within a touchdown of upsetting Oklahoma. The Frogs are getting a big boost with mercurial quarterback Kenny Hill and stalwart running back Kyle Hicks returning, but a brutal slate of Oklahoma State, a bye week, West Virginia, then Kansas State is looming. In any case, a big part of TCU’s future appears to be set with Barber.
