After being hit by Hurricane Harvey the city of Rockport is in shambles. Rumors spread that Fulton High School had collapsed, but even though the infrastructure is still standing, the Pirates football season is in limbo. Along with Rockport-Fulton, Aransas Pass, and Ingleside have all placed indefinite suspensions on their football seasons.
During such devastation it’s hard to think that something non-life altering, such as football games should even be thought about at this time. Fulton and Aransas Pass were scheduled to open the season Friday night against each other, but now they will be helping others in need. Ingleside was scheduled to play Robstown Friday, but the Mustangs will be focusing on recovery as well.
Aransas Pass will be looking to start the season on September 15th:

Ingleside will assess the damages to their facilities before determining when to return to football:

There had been a GoFundMe account set up to help the community of Rockport and anyone that would be interested to help can follow the link.
Football is supposed to be a way for communities to gather and support one another on Friday nights in Texas. The communities along our Gulf Coast will once again embrace the Friday Night Lights, but for now we should embrace these communities.
