What was supposed to be one of the biggest opening game in Texas turned quickly turned into a one-sided affair as the Allen Eagles completely neutralized the Cedar Hill Longhorns en route to a 23-8 win at Eagle Stadium on Friday night.
In a play that foreshadowed the rest of the night for the Cedar Hill Longhorns, Cedar Hill fumbled the ball on the second play from scrimmage and Allen pounced on the opportunity to put Cedar Hill on the down-and-out early.
With Allen in prime position at the Cedar Hill 35 to begin their first drive of the game, Brock Sturges immediately went to work to help move the offense down the field and set up an easy 3-yard touchdown run for himself to put Allen up 7-0 on a 6-play drive at the 9:50 mark in the first quarter.

With Cedar Hill down after a turnover on their first drive, the hopes to rebound from their previous drive did not go as planned as Allen forced a 3-and-out and immediately got the ball back for their offense.
The Allen offense once again went back to work as this time quarterback Grant Tisdale conducted a drive in which he connected with receiver Carson Schleker on a touch pass that went for a 36-yard gain. Four plays later, Tisdale would tuck the ball from 5 yards out and get the score to give Allen a 14 point advantage.
Cedar Hill’s struggles were evident early as their offense was neutralized the entire first half as Allen suffocated them and refused to let them gain any sort of ground to stand on. The Allen defense was stifling and Cedar Hill’s first five drives in the game resulted in a fumble, a punt, an interception, a punt and a safety. Cedar Hill’s final drive of the half resulted in a missed field goal attempt as time expired for intermission.
With Allen holding a commanding 23-0 lead at the half after getting a safety and an 18-yard touchdown pass from Grant Tisdale to Jack Fee at the 3:11 mark in the second quarter, Allen was clearly in the driver’s seat and it would remain that way the rest of the night.
Cedar Hill did not score until there was 10:16 left to play in fourth quarter when quarterback Shayne Lawrence connected to receiver Keenon Bell on a fade to the left corner of the endzone. Cedar Hill would attempt the 2-point play and converted on the same exact play but this time to receiver Josh Fleeks to put the score at 23-8.
Allen finished with 281 total yards and quarterback Grant Tisdale threw for 107 yards and touchdown and had a rushing touchdown as well. Running back Brock Sturges ended with 116 rushing yards and a touchdown. Jack Fee led all receivers with 37 receiving yards and a touchdown.
The Allen defense hardly let the Longhorn run game even get past the front seven as they completely took charge of the game and disrupted the timing and offensive speed of the Longhorns.
The defense only let up 98 rushing yards and helped forced three turnovers as defensive backs Taj Bickham and Mo Perkins both had interceptions.
Running back Cameron Fleming finished with 24 rushing yards and wide receiver Josh Fleeks broke the century mark in receiving yards but did not score.
