FORT WORTH — It was a wild weekend in college football but after all the chaos, Texas Christian University received a lot of the benefit. The Horned Frogs moved up into the Top 5 of the latest AP Poll, checking in with the No. 4 ranking this week.

TCU moved up two spots from No. 6 after four Top 10 teams lost who lost this weekend, including Clemson (at Syracuse on Friday) and Washington (at Arizona State). Previous No. 8 Washington State and No. 10 Auburn were the other top teams to lose.

TCU has been boosted by a mix of veteran experience and freshman talent, from Southlake’s Kenny Hill, Prosper’s Ben Banogu and Waxahachie’s Jalen Reagor and Kenedy Snell. Against Kansas State, Reagor had a career-best four receptions for 49 yards — giving the true freshman at least one catch in his first six collegiate games.

Behind resurgence and heady head coaching decisions, the Horned Frogs are 6-0 for the fifth time in 15 seasons — as well as 4-0 against teams they lost to last season — under Gary Patterson. The undefeated streak also gave TCU bowl eligibility for the 15th time in 17 seasons.

The Horned Frogs won 26-6 on Saturday at Kansas State in a game that saw almost four hours worth of lightning delays near Manhattan, Kansas. It may not have been the flashiest performance, but considering what happened in front of them, TCU will surely take the win.
