Horned Frogs no longer bring purple reign to Big 12
With a loss to Iowa State, TCU dropped to 26-3 all-time as an AP top-5 team under head coach Gary Patterson. Since 2000, it’s the third-best record nationally for any program when ranked in the top five.
The Horned Frogs dropped to No. 10 in the AP Top 25 standings and second in the Big 12. Oklahoma State pursues closely at No. 11 and holds the easier schedule to finish off the year.

I don’t know how I stopped binging Season 2 to write this article.
Longhorns season may be a success after all
At 4-4, Texas now has an opportunity to make a bowl game in coach Tom Herman’s first season with the Longhorns. Although not at the lofty ceiling of coach Herman’s successful Houston tenure, postseason placement will seem like a triumph compared to the latter part of coach Charlie Strong’s stay.
The defense was the real winner of last weekend’s Baylor victory, chalking up 10 tackles for loss for 54 yards. The unit will need to step up big this weekend against TCU; the Horned Frogs have won three games straight against Texas by a combined score of 129-26.

Introduce a little anarchy to the offensive system.
Baylor hungry for first win
As I predicted last week, coach Matt Rhule finally made the right call in initiating quarterback Charlie Brewer over Zach Smith as the starter, after the former shot-caller suffered an AC sprain in his throwing shoulder.
The Lake Travis standout was given the green light during the Bear’s 38-7 loss vs. Texas after an early interception by Smith. So far on the season, Brewer has completed 28 passes for 331 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.
The Bears face their most winnable opponent to date this weekend, when they take on the 1-7 Kansas Jayhawks; neither have notched a conference win this season.
I just woke up from a dream where I made a fool of myself with a sledgehammer. But then I realized it was actually Tom Herman. pic.twitter.com/QTOEYgrs3c

Finding a win is about as successful as Tom Herman doing construction.
SMU under-appreciated
Mustangs quarterback Ben Hicks is arguably the most underrated gunslinger in the Texas FBS. On top of leading SMU to their best record since the 80s, Hicks has thrown for 17 touchdowns and only six interceptions.
His 36 total touchdowns ties him in fourth for most in school history and he’s only six away from a spot in the top three. The fact that he is still a sophomore means he has a shot at the all-time list in each statistical category for the position.

But seriously, nothing is better than the World Series this year.
