Austin Westlake Star Commits to the Clemson Tigers

Austin Westlake Chaparrals Quarterback Cade Klubnik announced, via Instagram and then on Twitter, that he has committed to play for the Clemson Tigers.  On February 26th, Klubnik announced that he had received an offer from Clemson, and less than a week later he has announced that he is going to go play for Dabo Swinney and Clemson.

Here is the announcement video that Klubnik posted to Instagram

Klubnik led Westlake to their and his second straight state championship.  In the title game, Klubkik beat the #1 ranked 2022 QB in the nation and Ohio State commit, Quinn Ewers, 52-34.  In that game, he ran for 111 yards and 2 TDs, and he was 18-20 passing for 220 yards and a touchdown.  In the 2020 season, he through for over 4,000 yards and 50 touchdowns.

The starting Quarterback for 2021 for the Clemson Tigers will be D.J. Uiagalelei, who is an early Heisman favorite and looked great filling in for two games for Trevor Lawrence in 2020.  It is likely that Klubnik will be the backup for 1-2 years behind Uiagalelei before becoming the starter as a Software or Junior, but we would not be surprised to see him start sooner. Uiagalelei took to Twitter to congratulate Klubnik:
