Top 5A Offensive Skill Players Return for 2021
Here are some of the Top returning offensive skill players returning in Class 5A for 2021:
Running Backs
RB Dareion Murphy, 6-1, 205, Floresville Tigers: rushed for 1664 yards and 22 touchdowns. The Tigers, coached by Andrew Rohrs, return nine starters on offense. Floresville posted a 3-7 record in 2020.
Murphy has 26 scholarship offers from schools such as Princeton, Army, Navy, and Air Force (source: 247sports).
RB Jalen Washington, 5-9, 195, Montgomery Bears: Washington helped lead the Bears to the Area Finals. He rushed for 1499 yards and 18 TDs for Head Coach John Bolfing.
Washington has scholarship offers from Central Arkansas and Houston Baptist (source: 247sports).
Montgomery kickoff the 2021 season vs New Caney Porter on August 28th.
Quarterbacks
QB Chris Lee, 6-3, 205, Azle Hornets: Lee passed for 3373 yards and 36 TDs for a 9-3 Hornet team that made the Area Finals. The Hornets are coached by Devon Davis.
Lee has scholarship offers from East Central University and Northwestern Oklahoma State (source: 247sports).
The Hornets begin the 2021 season on the road at Keller Fossil Ridge on August 26th.
QB Mason Schorb, 6-2, 175, Leander Rouse Raiders: Schorb quarterbacked the Raiders to the Regional Semifinals. He passed for 3100 yards and 39 touchdowns. The Raiders, coached by Joshua Mann, finished the season 10-2.
The Raiders open the 2021 season against Burnet on August 26th.
Wide Receivers
WR Cameron De La Pena, 5-9, 170, Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial Eagles: De La Pena and the Eagles, coached by Courtney Boyce, posted an 8-4 record and made it to the Regional Semifinals. De La Pena caught 76 passes for 1217 yards and 14 touchdowns.
The Eagles kick off the 2021 season vs Alice on August 27th.
WR Kyndon Fuselier, 5-10, 165, Nederland Bulldogs: Fuselier caught 59 passes for 1382 yards and 15 touchdowns. The Bulldogs, coached by Monte Barrow, posted a 9-3 record and made it to the Regional Semifinals.
The Bulldogs hit the ground running in week 1 against a tough West Orange-Stark team on August 27th.
