Several Lone Star State graduates made moves during the first two days of the NFL’s negotiating period. Here are some of the biggest signings for those who made an impact on the Texas gridiron.

Aaron Jones (RB, Burgees)

The five-year full-time starter, formerly with the Green Bay Packers, has signed to a one-year, $7 million deal. After agreeing to terms with Josh Jacobs, the Packers released Jones, saving $17.575 million against their salary cap. The vet will face his former team twice next season.

With Burgees in El Paso, Jones rushed for 1,800 yards for 30 touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, he recorded 74 tackles, one interception, and two forced fumbles.

Devin Duvernay (WR, Sachse)

After spending his first four seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, Duvernay inked a two-year, $8.5 million contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars. In his pro career, Duvernay totaled 94 catches for 898 yards and five touchdowns, as well as 27 rushes for 219 yards and a score.

During his high school football career, Duvernay had 170 receptions for 2,906 yards and 36 touchdowns. After originally committing to Baylor, he competed with the Texas Longhorns for three seasons.

Aaron Brewer (OL, Skyline)

The Miami Dolphins agreed to bring Brewer into the O-line, on a three-year deal worth $21 million.

A Dallas native, Brewer earned All-District 9-6A First-team honors competing at offensive guard at Skyline. After receiving local interest, he opted to play three seasons at Texas State under head coach Everett Withers.

Robert Hunt (OL, Burkeville)

The fattest deal amongst former Lone Star State competitors belongs to ex-Dolphins offensive guard Robert Hunt. In rebuild mode, and well under the salary cap, the Carolina Panthers and Hunt agreed to a five-year, $100 million deal–$44 million is fully guaranteed. Hunt is coming off starting 55 games over the past four seasons.

In Newton County, playing for Burkeville, Hunt claimed two-time first team all-district selections.

A’Shawn Robinson (DE, Arlington Heights)

The Panthers are also adding veteran defensive lineman A’Shawn Robinson. Carolina has agreed to a three-year, $22.5 million deal. A fourth-round pick in the 2016 draft, Robinson competed with three different teams, including winning Super Bowl LVI in the 2021 season.

A native of Fort Worth, Robinson was a five-star athlete with Arlington Heights. He was coached by Todd Whitten in his senior season. After graduation, Robinson competed in the West squad in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
