Anna Coyotes Secure Shutout Win Over Eagles
On Friday Night, the Anna Coyotes hosted the Wilmer Hutchins Eagles in the first round of the 4a Division Region 2 playoffs.
Wilmer Hutchins Eagles
The Eagles were never able to get anything going as quarterback Tamajae McMillon completed 5 of 16 passes for 64 yards. McMillon connected with Robert Hall, who had 3 receptions for 52 yards, and Amos Rattler, who had 2 catches for 12 yards. Despite the receptions, neither receiver could find the endzone. The rushing game showed signs of life as Jacob Cummings rushed for 60 yards on 20 carries, but he never found the endzone. The Eagle’s defense kept the game close, giving their offense every chance to score, but it wasn’t enough.

The Coyotes also struggled to move the ball on offense as Ziondre Williams completed only 3 of 11 passes for 14 yards and rushed for 30 yards. Williams connected with receivers Jacob Emmers 1 time for 12 yards and Sean Steens twice for 2 yards. While the passing game struggled, the ground game was the go-to as George Rogers rushed for 88 yards on 24 carries, and Jacob Emmers rushed for 40 yards on 7 carries. Even though the running backs totaled over 100 yards together, neither were able to find the endzone. While the offense struggled to score, their defense helped them out when Jamison Adams recovered a fumble in the fourth quarter and ran it 3 yards for the first touchdown of the game. To put the nail in the coffin, CJ Miller picked off Eagles Quarterback McMillion and returned it 20 yards to the house to seal up the game for Anna.
Anna shuts out Wilmer Hutchins 17-0.
Next Friday, Anna will play China Spring in the Area round. China Spring is 8-3 on the season and is coming off a 42-24 win over Lake Worth. Both teams have explosive offenses and superb defenses so there is no doubt it will come down to the 4th quarter.
