The 6-1 junior ranks as the No. 433 overall prospect in the nation, No. 72 overall wide receiver in the nation, and No. 59 overall prospect in Texas according to a 247sports.com composite.
Goffney was a 2019 unanimous first-team all-district selection after catching 60 passes for 964 yards and 10 touchdowns. His sophomore season was another bright one as he caught 52 passes for 993 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Goffney explained that SMU checked all of the boxes for him. “For me,” Goffney said, “it’s just making sure the campus feels like a place I can spend the next few years of my life. I do want to go some place my parents can and will be able to see me play, but really I want to be comfortable where I’m at and it feel like a second home.”
Goffney received an offer from SMU in January. He has other offers from schools like Arizona, Arkansas, California, Duke, Kansas, Vanderbilt and more.
