Dallas Samuell Stripped of All Wins for Ineligible Player Violation

Tom Thumb - DFW's Grocer Since 1948

Dallas Samuell was having a solid season, already posting seven wins and securing a playoff berth.

After their contest against South Oak Cliff was unceremoniously cancelled, Dallas ISD has announced that the Spartans will forfeit all seven of their wins this year due to the use of ineligible players. An internal investigation was launched earlier last week, allegedly due to player’s residency being questioned.

The team’s next contest against Spruce remains uncertain.

The statement read:

“Dallas ISD is committed to transparency, fairness, and accountability in all our programs, upholding the highest standards for our teams and students. Following an internal investigation, the district discovered ineligible players on the W.W. Samuell High School varsity football team, which resulted in the cancellation of last night’s game against South Oak Cliff.
“We are ensuring strict compliance with UIL guidelines and will not tolerate actions that compromise the integrity of our athletic programs. Dallas ISD is committed to addressing this matter in full transparency and will take the necessary actions to protect the interests of our students and community.”
Because the contest against South Oak Cliff was ruled a victory for the Bears, they will secure the top spot in district standings with a 6-0 record.
According to a statement made by the UIL, the organization “…is aware of a local investigation into alleged rule violations involving the Dallas Samuell football program and has been in contact with Dallas ISD and the local district executive committee (DEC). At this time, UIL has not received a report of findings or action taken by the DEC.”
The story was also mirrored over in Florida on Monday. Powerhouse Miami Central also retroactively forfeited nine games this year by the Florida High School Athletic Association because of the use of an ineligible player.
Dallas ISD assistant director of athletics Todd Lamb has referred all questions in the ruling to Robyn Harris, DISD’s deputy chief for communication services.
