Texas Tech’s defense has been apocalyptic levels of bad in recent memory. They were either last or very close to last in every single relevant defensive category in 2016, in total defense they were dead last. Statistics do not tell the whole story, but in this case numbers do not lie, Texas Tech was bad on the defensive side of the ball. Today, they somehow got worse after former 5 star defensive tackle Breiden Fehoko announced that he would be transferring.

It’s pretty hard to get worse after ranking dead last in total defense, but somehow, Texas Tech will be worse off this year than they were last year. Fehoko was easily one of the brightest spots on that defense, and he’ll be sorely missed. With his transfer, we’ll see a lot more of Broderick Washington as well as a bevy of young, unproven defensive linemen for the Red Raiders.
