Sanders leads Cowboys over Cyclones
Redshirt sophomore Spencer Sanders posted more than 300 yards of total offense and overcame two interceptions to lift the Oklahoma State Cowboys to a 24-21 home win over the Iowa State Cyclones on Saturday.
The win helps No. 6 Oklahoma State (4-0, 3-0) stay unbeaten in the Big 12 while Iowa State (3-2, 3-1) dropped six spots to No. 23 in the latest Associated Press College Football Poll.
Sanders completed 20 of 29 passes for 235 yards and a touchdown to go along with 15 carries for 82 yards and another score. His 14-yard rushing touchdown gave Oklahoma State the lead midway through the third quarter gave the Cowboys a 21-14 lead that they would not relinquish.
The former Denton Ryan star posted a 46-6 record in high school and passed for 8,747 yards despite sustaining season-ending injuries on two occasions during his prep career.
