In just a few days on the job as the new head coach of Abilene Christian, Adam Dorell continues to build his staff with Texas high school stars. On Wednesday, Danieal Manning confirmed he’s heading back to ACU as a student assistant. Now, Dorell has added another former Friday night football star.
Per Adam Boedeker of the Denton Record-Chronicle, J.W. Walsh will be the new running backs coach at Abilene Christian. The report was confirmed by J.W.’s father, John Walsh, currently the head coach at Denton Guyer.

This will be the first full-time coaching job for the former Guyer and Oklahoma State quarterback. Walsh will remain with TCU and coach the AutoZone Liberty Bowl on Dec. 30 against Georgia before he heads to Abilene for his new position. 2017 will be the first year that Abilene Christian will be eligible for postseason play in FCS football.
