Zach Shackelford was hardly two months removed from his final high school football game at Belton when he enrolled at the University of Texas this past January.
And barely three months later, Shackelford was taking first-team reps at a position he’d never played before in spring practice for the Longhorns.
But for Shackelford, the roller coaster is still going — and he is loving every minute of it.
“I felt like I had a pretty good spring, but we’ve still got fall camp and I’ve got to stay in good shape and stuff like that, so there’s definitely a long way to go,” he said. “So, nothing certified, but I’ve been having fun.”
Shackelford was an APSE All-State first teamer as a guard for the Tigers last season.
