The defending national champions received 16 of the 25 first-place votes and a total of 606 points that came from ballots of coaches, Sports Information Directors and media members. This is the first time that Mary Hardin-Baylor has been ranked #1 heading into the season.
Current head coach Pete Fredenburg has amassed a 196-38 career record at UMHB since he first started in 1998 and has coached UMHB to 15 NCAA Division III Football Championships and is a nine-time ASC Coach of the Year.
Mary Hardin-Baylor set an American Southwest Conference record last year by going 15-0 culminating with the school’s first NCAA Division III National Title with a 10-7 victory over Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
