Off the heels of their first national championship in football, Mary Hardin-Baylor has made some more history. D3football.com released their Preseason Top 25 Poll on Monday and the Crusaders found themselves at the top of the polls.

The defending national champions received 16 of the 25 first-place votes and a total of 606 points that came from ballots of coaches, Sports Information Directors and media members. This is the first time that Mary Hardin-Baylor has been ranked #1 heading into the season.

Current head coach Pete Fredenburg has amassed a 196-38 career record at UMHB since he first started in 1998 and has coached UMHB to 15 NCAA Division III Football Championships and is a nine-time ASC Coach of the Year.

Mary Hardin-Baylor set an American Southwest Conference record last year by going 15-0 culminating with the school’s first NCAA Division III National Title with a 10-7 victory over Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Mary Hardin-Baylor opens their 2017 season September 9 at home versus Sul Ross State.
