“I would love to be a part of the Mustang family,” Jones said in his announcement. “Their coaching staff are really great and they’re like family away from home. I really feel I’ll fit in there. THANK YOU.”
Currently an unranked prospect, Jones picked up his SMU offer on May 4 and committed to the Mustangs on Tuesday over an offer from Texas State. In doing so, Jones will provide SMU with an electric pass catcher in open space and a consistent deep threat following his senior season at Port Arthur Memorial.
In addition to his duties at wide receiver, Jones also plays safety for the Titans. He projects as a receiver at the next level.
Jones now becomes commit No. 19 for SMU and following suit with Morris and his staff’s recruiting preferences, he’s commit No. 18 from Texas, as well as the third pledge within the last week.
The Mustangs’ 2018 class now ranks No. 58 nationally and No. 5 in the American Athletic Conference.
