It appears that the starting quarterback battle in Waco has come to an end. Per Pete Thamel of Yahoo! Sports, Baylor has named former Arizona quarterback Anu Solomon as their Week 1 starter for their opener on Saturday against Liberty.

Solomon had been in a quarterback battle with sophomore Zach Smith and freshman Charlie Brewer for the job and provides the Bears and head coach Matt Rhule with a dual-threat option. He arrived as a graduate transfer back in January.

The former Wildcat threw for 6,922 yards and 49 touchdowns but had struggled with injuries during his time in Tucson. Now under Matt Rhule, it appears that Solomon is getting another shot as a starter in 2017.

The Bears take on Liberty at 6 p.m. Central time on Saturday in Waco.
