If you’re the No. 1 ranked college football in the country, you’ve earned the right to arrive to any gridiron in style.
During the Texas Longhorns bye week, coach Steve Sarkisian showed up by helicopter to Galveston to watch Ball High School five-star safety Jonah Williams compete in a home showdown against Port Arthur Memorial on Friday night.
The helicopter, which coach Sarkisian posted all over his X page, had a burnt orange SEC logo painted on its side.
Once he arrived, the Tornadoes put on a show for the fourth-year head coach, triumphing 41-10 against their district rival. The win was highlighted by Williams returning a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown. Later in the first half, Williams intercepted a pass inside the red zone and then pointed to his future college coach.
Coach Sarkisian sat with Texas defensive back Jaylon Guilbeau, a former Port Arthur Memorial graduate.
Williams committed to Texas in late August, choosing the Longhorns over Oregon, LSU, Texas A&M, and USC. He joins a Longhorns 2025 recruiting class that ranks No. 6 nationally. Other notable Texas high school football commits include Skyline linebacker Elijah Barnes, Sachse wide receiver Kaliq Lockett, and Dekaney tight end Nick Townsend.
During his helicopter tour, coach Sarkisian also visited Ohio State five-star cornerback commit Devin Sanchez at North Shore and Oregon four-star cornerback commit Dorian Brew at Conroe.
The Texas Longhorns will continue their undefeated streak in the Red River Rivalry showdown with No. 12 Oklahoma on Oct. 12.
