TCU Lands At No. 11 In CFB Playoff Rankings

TCU has moved up a grand total of one spot after beating Baylor 45-22.

The win over Baylor wasn’t the most memorable, nor against a team that should be. But being ranked outside of the top 10 does not bode well for the purple Frogs chance at a playoff appearance. We’re at the point of the year where it’s win and you’re in, but for the Horned Frogs, they’ll need to do more than just win the Big 12 championship game.

The Sooners, No. 3 in this weeks rankings, will undoubtedly give up a fight. But for TCU, it will need to win convincingly to even hope to make a jump from 11 to four. Ohio State, Georgia and USC would all also probably need to lose in the championship games.

Other Big 12 Teams

Oklahoma moved up to No. 3, as mentioned before, after its win over West Virginia. This means the Sooners will be in the playoffs, should they win the Big 12 and chaos doesn’t come. TCU and OU are joined by Oklahoma State, who came in at No. 19. The Cowboys regular season is over, and will await their bowl destination in the coming week.

TCU has good wins, and one good loss, the Iowa State loss can be viewed as an Iowa-like loss for Ohio State. It isn’t the prettiest, but sure isn’t the ugliest. The Horned Frogs control their own destination, for the most part, but will rely heavily on other teams to land in the playoffs. However, if not playoffs, a New Years Six bowl is definitely in the realm of possibility.
