Similar to most fellow Texas FBS programs, TCU had a wildly inconsistent season, finishing with a losing record for the first time since 2013. Although an arcade in the football facility probably won’t assist student athletes in learning coach Patterson’s playbook, help is on the way in two early enrollees – four-star recruits that will help with depth issues that plagued the Horned Frogs throughout the  year.

The 2017 recruiting class ranks No. 33 nationally and No. 3 in the Lone Star State. The pair of commits rank in the top-five of the Horned Frogs class:

Shawn Robinson (QB, DeSoto)

Robinson had one of the best single-seasons in Texas high school football this year, accounting for 4,882 total yards and 47 total touchdowns. Through the air, Robinson passed for 3,413 yards for 28 scores – posting career highs in all throwing categories – and scrambled for 1,469 yards for 19 running touchdowns.

Through a talented offensive line and a prominent defense, Robinson lead the Eagles to their first State Championship, beating Cibolo Steele 38-29 behind the quarterback’s 400+ yards of total offense, despite nursing an injured hip in the latter half of the game. Robinson added Offensive MVP honors to his trophy case and boasts the first undefeated season in DeSoto history. In Texas recruiting, Robinson only trails Sam Ehlinger in 2017 quarterback power rankings, according to 247 Sports.

Wes Harris (OG, Aledo)

Similar to Robinson, Harris belonged to a championship group in Aledo that ran the table on the season, finishing the year 16-0 and earning impressive hardware in a 5A State Championship victory.

However, the Bearcats senior spent the year on the defensive side of the ball at DT, accounting for 105 tackles and 10 sacks; his efforts garnered 6-5A defensive MVP and Class 5A All-State honorable mention. As a junior offensive tackle, Harris won 8-5A in 2015; he is one of four seniors from Aledo that pledged to DI programs.
