The Washington State Cougars will try and win their second straight bowl game Tuesday night in San Diego as they face the Minnesota Golden Gophers in the National Funding Holiday Bowl.

Once again this bowl season, Texas high school football players will make their will presence felt in the game. Amarillo Palo Duro graduate Charleston White is a junior safety for the Cougars, totaling two interceptions and 17 tackles this season; as a redshirt freshman, he had a second most PAC-12 pass breakups (13). The championship game marks the second postseason appearance White has seen. Last year, he posted four tackles in a Sun Bowl victory.

In Amarillo, White garnered 4A all-district honors as both a receiver and defensive back, hauling in over 500 yards and making 50 tackles.

The other Texans playing for the Cougars also play in the secondary. Former Kingwood Park defensive back Kirkland Parker primarily will play on special teams, but has seen some time on defense this year. He had a season high seven tackles back in the opening game against Eastern Washington.

Reserve safety Darius Lemora recorded 2 tackles in WSU’s last game against the rival Washington Huskies. After recording 68 tackles in his freshman season, the Port Arthur Memorial defensive back hasn’t seen as much on-field action his last two seasons.
