TXHSFB stars Shine on Saturday

The State of Texas was well-represented on college football gameday across America on Saturday. Here is a look at those standout performances by former Texas high school football stars.

RB Abram Smith, Baylor (Abilene High School):

Smith rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown as the Baylor Bears (7-1) defeated Texas 31-24. He was a 3-star standout at Abilene High, where he rushed for 1525 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2015.

WR Marvin Mims, Oklahoma (Frisco Lone Star High School):

Mims caught four of QB Caleb Williams passes for 135 yards (33-yards per catch) and two touchdowns in a 52-21 win over Texas Tech. Mims was the 2019 Mr. Texas Football and a 4-star prospect after a senior season at Lone Star in which he caught 117 passes for 2629 yards and 32 touchdowns.

Oklahoma is 9-0 on the season is ranked #4 in the AP Top 25 Poll.

QB Spencer Sanders, Oklahoma State (Denton Ryan High School):

Sanders was 12 of 19 for 156 yards and 2 touchdowns and zero INTs, and he added a rushing touchdown in a 55-3 win over Kansas. In his senior year at Denton Ryan, Sanders (a 4-star prospect) passed for 3845 yards, 54 Tds, and 7 INTs. He also rushed for 1380 yards and 16 touchdowns.

QB Tanner Mordecai, #19 SMU (Waco Midway High School):

Mordecai was 24 of 37 passing for 301 yards and 3 touchdowns, and 1 INT in a 44-37 loss to Houston. Coming into the game, SMU was undefeated.

Mordecai, a 4-star prospect at Midway High School in Waco, passed for 4395 yards and 53 touchdowns, 10 INTs as a senior at MIdway. He also had 1163 yards rushing and 23 touchdowns.

QB Clayton Tune, Houston (Hebron High School):

The Houston quarterback tuned up the SMU defense for 412 yards and 4 touchdowns in a 44-37 win over #19 SMU. Tune completed 73% of his passes. As a senior at Hebron, Tune passed for 2416 yards and 23 touchdowns, and six interceptions. He also added nine rushing touchdowns.

Houston is now 7-1 in the American Athletic Conference.
