University of Texas Football has added high school All-America WR Devin Duvernay (Sachse, Texas) to its 2016 signing class, head coach Charlie Strong announced Thursday. Duvernay has signed a financial aid agreement and is expected to enroll in the University’s second summer session in July.
“I’m so excited to have Devin joining our program and making what already was a tremendous class of 2016 even better,” Strong said. “We’re thrilled to have him, not just because he’s so talented as a football player, but even more so because he’s a super young man with great character. He’s one of the fastest sprinters in the nation, so you know he brings unbelievable speed and explosiveness to our team. We’re looking forward to getting him to campus.”
A two-time 6A All-State honoree in football and 2015 100m 6A state champion from Sachse (SACK-see) High School, Duvernay (DOO-ver-nay) participated in the 2016 Under Armour All-America Game after his senior year. Over his last three seasons, he compiled 170 receptions for 2,906 yards (17.1 ypr) and 36 touchdowns, along with 105 rushes for 1,077 yards (10.3 ypc) and 11 touchdowns with two kickoff return touchdowns.
