UTEP standout offensive lineman Will Hernandez has been named to the AP All-America second team for the second straight year.
The list came out on Monday and Hernandez is the first UTEP athlete to ever win back-to-back AP All-America honors.
Hernandez, the Las Vegas, Nev., native, is just one of six Miners to be named to the AP All-America list. The program’s All-America honors include Ed Bunn ‘92, first team, Baron Wortham ‘93, second team, Brian Natkin ‘00, first team, Johnnie Lee Higgins ‘06, second team, Aaron Jones ‘16, third team.
He is just one of two Conferene USA players to make the list, joining Florida Atlantic’s Devin Singletary.
During this off-season Hernandez has been named to the 2017 Pro Football Focus All-American first team and the All-Conference USA first team.
He started in all 49 games during his college years at the left guard position and is set to enter the 2018 NFL draft as one of the top guards in the nation. NFL scouts have Hernandez listed to go as high as the second round in the draft.
He will be playing his final colligate game at the 2018 Reese’s Senior Bowl.
